I had an artificial knee that slowly shifted, and I needed to have it replaced with a new one. This replacement surgery happened on April 17, 2019. It is not your everyday surgery, but I'm very thankful I had a great surgeon, and my LifeWave patches!
I have not taken any pain meds since I left the hospital Friday, April 19th. I have been using my Lifewave patches as my only pain control, and they also reduced the swelling. However, I certainly can tell when the patches wear off, I put new ones on and am thankful for the instant pain relief. I really hate how pain meds make me feel, and how they make me sick to my stomach so, I try to avoid them. Thank goodness, I did not need to take them!!. Everyone at the doctors' office, hospital, and at physical therapy, can't believe I'm not taking any pain meds. I did rotate through the patches using different ones on different days, just checking to see which ones helped the most. They all seemed to work for me. I always wore an X39 patch during the day with a few other patches (example: 2 different Y-Age patches and a set of IceWave with the X39). Pain relief was instant no matter which patches I used.
PT had me walking the day of surgery. First picture is of me having my first meal, dinner the evening of surgery. Russ caught me with my mouth full. Yes, I was wearing patches as soon as I woke up from surgery. The patches not only helped with pain, but helped with flexibility. The day of surgery, I was able to bend my new knee to 73 degrees. PT told me 60 degrees is hard for most, PT is happy if a patient achieves 60 degrees on the first day. The second day I had 80 degrees and the third day I had 89 degrees. PT said the goal is 90 degrees by 2 months. I had my knee straight by day 3, which usually takes a long time. I was surpassing their records!!. YEAH! I also will say that the patches do help with fast wound healing, see pictures attached. The last picture is from before surgery, Nov 2nd, 2016, when my right knee was starting to bow out.
Had my 6 week follow-up with my surgeon on May 30th and all is great. They were all amazed how well I''m doing. My knee is way past 90 degrees when bending. I walked in to his office from the car, did not need to take my wheelchair. I had been in a wheelchair for well over a year and before that, used one off and on. I will still need one for long walks because of bad ankles (maybe not with using X39 patches). Most patients have to go back for a 12 week checkup, but I'm doing so fantastic that my next appt is in 5 years!!!!
Thank You God, David Schmidt and LifeWave for these patches.
